I think if you completely remove / disable ACPI the bios will manage the fans itself.  Also your external CRT should work fine, at least with my toshiba it's handled at the hardware level.  So linux text mode and FreeBSD I can switch fine between LCD / CRT / TV / and any combination of them.  The only weird thing about X Windows it is sets up each as a seperate desktop so things get a little weird there.  It only let's me activate one at a time in X.  I think if you just go in and configure three displays (or two) it would be fine.  I'll have to play with that later.

Sorry to get off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread if one already exists. So I'm a little new to this and was wanting to install Linux on my Palm Treo 755p. Is there a thread that already exists for this? I have searched the site high and low and can't find one.

This would not be the right thread for that question, But for your answer go here. I am running opie on my palm and mindspring both with no issues and has tons of featuers.
